Workers Compensation Chiropractor in Sydney: How Your NSW Claim Covers Treatment

Hurt your back lifting at work? Neck or shoulder pain from long days at a desk or on the tools? If you hurt yourself at work in NSW, your workers compensation claim can pay for treatment with a SIRA-approved workers compensation chiropractor at Tensegrity Sports Clinics.

This guide explains how the process works, what is covered and how to book.

What does workers compensation cover at Tensegrity?

Your employer’s insurer can pay for reasonable treatment to help you recover and return to work. At Tensegrity, that includes:

  • Chiropractic: with our SIRA-approved chiropractors at Wahroonga, Bella Vista, St Leonards, Macquarie Park, Sydney CBD and Brookvale.
  • Remedial massage: at our Wahroonga and Bella Vista clinics, once your insurer approves it.

In the NSW workers compensation system, chiropractors need approval from SIRA, the state regulator. For that reason, tell us it is a workers compensation claim when you book, and we will match you with an approved chiropractor.

How do I get started?

  • Report your injury to your employer as soon as possible.
  • Next, see your GP for a certificate of capacity.
  • Then get your claim number from your employer or their insurer.
  • Finally, book with us and bring your claim number to your first visit.

How does treatment work?

First, your chiropractor assesses your injury and sets clear goals for your recovery and return to work. In many cases, an approved practitioner can start treatment early in your claim without waiting for insurer approval. After that, we send the insurer a treatment request for any further sessions you need.

Throughout your care, we also keep your insurer, employer and GP updated, so everyone is working towards the same goal: getting you back to work safely.

What does it cost?

For approved treatment on an accepted claim, the insurer pays us directly. As a result, you should not have to pay at your appointment. However, if the insurer does not accept your claim, you may need to pay for your treatment yourself.

Why choose Tensegrity for a work injury?

Returning to work is about more than easing pain. So every plan at Tensegrity follows the same model: first a thorough assessment, then hands-on treatment, then exercise rehabilitation matched to the demands of your job. In addition, we explain what we find in plain language, so you know what to expect at each stage.

Our team also consults in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a claim number before I book?

It helps. If you already have a claim number, bring it to your first visit. If you have only just been injured, report it to your employer and see your GP first, then call us and we will guide you through the next steps.

Do I have to pay for treatment?

For approved treatment on an accepted claim, the insurer pays us directly. However, if the insurer does not accept your claim, you may need to pay for your treatment yourself.

Can I see any chiropractor at Tensegrity?

In the NSW workers compensation system, chiropractors need approval from SIRA. So when you book, tell us it is a workers compensation claim and we will book you with one of our SIRA-approved chiropractors.

Is remedial massage covered?

It can be. Remedial massage for a work injury needs approval from your insurer before treatment starts, so we request it for you first.

Is workers compensation available at every Tensegrity clinic?

It is available at our Wahroonga, Bella Vista, St Leonards, Macquarie Park, Sydney CBD and Brookvale clinics. It is not currently available at our Willoughby clinic.
