You have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Equally, you may have osteopenia and other risk factors such as a previous fracture or a history of falls.

You worry about falling. As a result, you may have stopped doing things you enjoy.

You want to exercise. However, you are not yet sure which movements are safe for your bones.
The Stronger Bones Program

01
First of all, we go through your bone density results and fracture and falls history. We also measure your strength and balance.

02
Then build strength, balance and confidence with an exercise plan set to your level.

03
Finally, move better in daily life and get back to the activities you enjoy.

What the research says
1 in 3
Australians over 65 have a fall each year. Fortunately, strength and balance training is a well-supported way to lower that risk.
Healthy Bones Australia therefore recommends that an osteoporosis exercise program combines three things, ideally with a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist:
Bone density change over eight months
1.9%
Supervised resistance and impact training
0.1%
Low-intensity program
Lumbar spine. MEDEX-OP trial, 115 postmenopausal women with low bone mass (Kistler-Fischbacher et al., JBMR 2021).
Of course, results vary by person. In other words, this is background on the evidence, not a prediction for your bones.
We are also a preferred provider with HCF, Medibank, Bupa and nib. HICAPS on-the-spot claiming is also available for program sessions.

Preferred provider arrangements and rebate amounts do, however, vary by fund and policy. To be sure, check your level of cover with your health fund.
Let’s build strength, balance and confidence, and above all keep you moving.
