Ian Pau is a Sports Chiropractor, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Tensegrity Sports & Chiropractic Clinics — one of Sydney’s most comprehensive sports healthcare networks. Since beginning practice in 2010, Ian has built an ecosystem spanning clinical care, elite sporting coverage, corporate health programmes, product development, and practitioner education across three distinct businesses.
Helping Active People Move, Perform & Recover Better
Ian works with athletes, active professionals, gym-goers, runners, and patients with longstanding or recurring musculoskeletal injuries. His focus is helping people return to sport, training, work, and daily performance with long-term solutions rather than temporary symptom relief.
Known for managing complex and persistent injuries that have failed to respond to previous treatment, Ian takes a systems-based approach to injury assessment and rehabilitation — and consults in both English and Cantonese.
A Different Approach to Injury
Ian’s clinical philosophy is built on movement science. Rather than only treating the painful area, he assesses how the entire body moves and functions to identify the true drivers of injury and dysfunction along movement chains, movement slings, and natural movement patterns — an approach that consistently uncovers what prior treatment has missed.
Ian specialises in chronic and recurring injuries that have not responded to conventional care. For patients who have exhausted other avenues, Ian’s approach often reveals the true driver of their persistent pain for the first time.
His clinical toolkit includes:
Ian co-founded Tensegrity in 2012 alongside Michelle Kim and has grown it into a network of more than ten multidisciplinary clinics across Sydney, operating in St Leonards, Macquarie Park, Wahroonga, Bella Vista, Brookvale, Willoughby, and Sydney CBD.
Tensegrity has been recognised as a finalist in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards every year from 2022 to 2026, and has won multiple Local Business Awards across its locations including St Leonards (2019) and Wahroonga (2019 & 2025).
As founder of First Aid in Sport (FAIS), Ian built one of Sydney’s leading SMA-certified sports trainer hire services — trusted by organisations including Rugby Australia, St Aloysius College, and Redlands College. FAIS supplies qualified sports trainers to schools, clubs, and events across Greater Sydney and has served Sydney’s sporting community for over a decade.
Ian is the creator of SportsPro — a 100% Australian-made natural pain relief and muscle recovery product range developed from his clinical experience working with athletes, sports professionals, and therapists.
Ian has provided sports medicine and first aid coverage at a wide range of elite sporting events and organisations, including:
Ian and the Tensegrity team have partnered with leading gym and fitness organisations across Sydney to deliver on-site injury screening, treatment, and musculoskeletal wellness services, including Premier Fitness, The Locker Room Gym, Fitness First, and Vision Personal Training.
Ian and the Tensegrity team have delivered corporate safety and wellness programmes for major Australian organisations including Woolworths — where Ian established and operated a clinical health and wellbeing centre within their national head office — and World Vision, among others. These programmes have included workplace seminars, injury prevention workshops, ergonomic assessments, and pro bono injury screening and treatment days.
Ian works collaboratively with a network of Sydney-based specialist clinics and centres — including Sydney Sportsmed Specialists, Sydney Podiatry Co, Sydney Sports Podiatry, NSW Spine Specialists, and St Vincent’s SportsMed — to ensure patients receive seamless, coordinated care across all stages of assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and specialist referral when required.
This integrated network allows Ian and the Tensegrity team to manage complex and high-performance cases from initial conservative care through to specialist consultation and post-operative rehabilitation within a coordinated healthcare framework.
Ian has served as a clinical placement supervisor and mentor for chiropractic students at Macquarie University, training the next generation of practitioners in sports chiropractic assessment and management.
Ian sees patients with persistent, recurring, or treatment-resistant musculoskeletal conditions — those who have sought care elsewhere without lasting resolution. His movement-based diagnostic approach consistently identifies what prior treatment has missed, delivering outcomes patients had stopped expecting.
Ian consults at Tensegrity’s St Leonards, Sydney CBD, and Brookvale locations.
